Shihlin night market was our first stop! bubble tea, chicken chop blah...you name it! but it gets super crowded so advisable to go on weekdays/late at night. (i dunno tt couple in the pic, they just happen to appear there lol)


the famous ah zhong mian xian!! this is at the branch at shihlin. main store is at Xi Men Ding...the shop doesnt have tables. you merely sit down on the benches and eat your mian xian. very crowded too!! haha. But the place is air-conditioned with plasma screens playing MTVs.

Day 2 morning - taipei zhong zhen ji nian tang. CKS memorial hall.
The parade square is huge! cant imagine if we were to do marching here. will die of heatstroke plus the scorching sun.





next stop - taipei 101 and its interior.. currently the tallest builing in the world. Shops inside are mostly high-end luxury brands. In my opinion the prices in 101 area are abt the same as ours, but of course they have more variety and wider selection of boutiques when we only have miserable counters in Singapore.




shopping malls around this area - 新光三越， NYNY and Neo 19. The club Room 18 is located in Neo 19. we even saw a 法轮功 demonstration.




shopping at 五分埔. Wholesale market for clothes! We went twice during our trip and we didnt managed to cover this place. There are simply too many alleys and streets! Must-go!



headed down to 西门町! it happens that 棒棒堂男孩 was having an autograph session so the music store was packed outside.

we had the candied apple at XMD too. i was told back in sg that its available here too. its too sweet for my liking. worth a try but once is enough. haha



KTV at Partyworld. its damn huge with a hotel-like reception area and personal toilets within the room itself. the whole building belongs to Partyworld (and they have outlets everywhere), 24hrs open too. wow.

阳明山！Its real hot that day..they have a mini tour bus that drives up the mountain with some specified stops for passengers to alight.

High Speed Rail from Taipei to Taichung - NT$700 per pax.



when we arrived at Taichung we took a coach (think was 4 hours ride) to Sun Moon Lake. Its the biggest freshwater lake in Taiwan ( i tink, haha)

with my colleague's recommendation we went to this cakeshop called ru chu. i love their cakes and the shop decor!!



Dinner at chun shui tang! the thai lemon chicken fillet and carrot cake are highly recommended. We had it twice in Taichung and Kaohsiung. They self-acclaimed that bubble tea drinking culture started from this chain of restaurants. but i tink their drinks ain't that fantastic. The food - yes!

We took a coach from Taichung to Kaoshiung the next day. Stayed at King's Town hotel. According to the cabby the location of it is not tt good cos its abit further to the city. I find it ok and the biggest adv is Kaoshiung train station is just directly opposite. This makes it much easier since we are travelling by train back to Taipei eventually.


The latest shopping mall at Kaoshiung. Meng Shi Dai. It is relatively new, not all shops are open but the scale cannot be compared with ours. Meng Shi Dai comes equipped with a Sanrio-theme ferris wheel. They have a Japanese section with 6-7 Jap restaurants selling from ramen to curry to shabu shabu....


Tainan is close to Kaoshiung so we took a train the next morning to visit the tourist spots.

Just opposite of Kong Miao we had desserts at this shop. Its recommended by both my colleague and Lonely Planet. However i tink that its only so-so. Eitherways we tried cos of the recommendation and cos the weather's really hot at 35 degrees!

Next up within walking distance was the Koxinga's shrine and us taking lame photos on the bridge. The surroundings look like a scene of those ancient China shows.



Official God of War temple. The highlight is the winter melon tea store outside. Its constantly crowded, but the drinks are superb! i love the dong nai!!


Within the vicinity is Chi Kan Lou. It used to be the fortress of Tainan and is now a tourist-spot. In some sense its like our Sentosa! haha

Tainan wasnt much shopping. Being the oldest city in Taiwan it houses many preserved tourist and cultural spots. The pace is much slower here too. I was told that expenses is lower in Tainan and Kaoshiung compared to Taipei. The good thing is that the spots are located near to each other. You can take a 1-day walking tour. For us the weather was too hot to be tolerated so taxis was the solution to go from place to place!

On train back to Taipei the following day. The trip was a whopping 6 hours and our Miss Lim slept like a pig as usual.




When we arrived in Taipei it was pretty much last-minute shopping. Miramar complex with its ferris wheel. Flash your student card (they accept Spore's as well and a discount will be given! haha)

To Raohe Night market during evening...the smelly tofu is smells damn bad here compared to other night markets. I cant take it man....





At night was Shih Lin Night market again and heading back to Singapore the following day!
It was my first trip to Taiwan and although its F&E taiwan was pretty much a nice place to navigate around. Mostly importantly its easy to communicate since we speak mandarin.

If you are unsure of where to go, just ask the hotel reception! they should provide brochures of the famous spots within the area. Also you can book coaches/taxis via the receptionist. It may be a lil more expensive thru them but it saves alot of trouble.
